At the Centre Technique Alexander we offer a three years training course for those who wish to work with the Technique professionally. The course is approved by the Association Professionnelle Suisse de la Technique Alexander APSTA/SBAT.
IN THE WORKPLACE
Since 2009 we have been working succesfully with many public institutions and private companies in Switzerland. The Alexander Technique is an excellent tool to help prevent strain and injury in the workplace.
CLINICAL TRIAL RESULTS PUBLISHED IN THE BRITISH MEDICAL JOURNAL SHOW THAT ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE LESSONS PROVIDE LONG-TERM BENEFIT FOR PATIENCE SUFFERING FROM CHRONICK BACK PAIN
Published in 2008, the trial results clearly show that 24 one-to-one lessons in the Alexander Technique led to important improvements in function, quality of life and reduction of days in pain for the patients. This trial is one of the few major studies to show significant long-term benefits for patients with chronic non-specific low-back pain.
A HALLMARK OF A BREAKTHROUGH
In fact, as science gains a greater understanding of our postural mechanism and the way we use ourselves, so the evidence comes to support the developing theory and practice of The Alexander Technique. Because over the past hundred years, as science has advanced, so new discoveries have validated The Alexander Technique: a hallmark of a true breakthrough. Not so surprising really, when you bear in mind that even though F.M. Alexander was not a scientist, he wasexacting in his use of Scientific Method in developing his Technique.
A THREE YEARS TEACHERS' TRAINING COURSE, APPROVED BY THE ASSOCIATION PROFESSIONELLE SUISSE DE TECHNIQUE ALEXANDER - APSTA/SBAT
As the foundation of any hands-on work, every trainee will be encoureged from the beginning, and throughout the course, to work on themselves and to pay a great deal of attention to the development of their own use. This way of learning will help the trainees to continue developing their experience and understanding of the Technique throughout their professional career.
We also believe that practical procedures should be the fundamental aspect of any alexander training course, as they give the trainees practical experience of developing their own teaching skills and ‘teaching hands’.
Classes are in the morning, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays each week. Each class starts at 8:30 and ends at 13:00, with 2 breaks.
For more details please feel free to contact us or to make an appointment to visit our school.
Our training course has as reference points the teaching of Walter and Dilys Carrington at The Constructive Teaching Centre in London and the four books written by F.M. Alexander.
SOME FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ANSWERED
Naturally, you’ll have some questions about The Alexander Technique: the “how?”, “why?”, “what?”, and “how much?” of it. So we have answered some of the more frequently asked questions here.
What is The Alexander Technique?
The Alexander Technique is a form of practical self-help which anyone can use – whatever their age or physical condition. People use The Technique for a variety of reasons. Some of the most popular include: postural or breathing problems, pain relief, performance enhancement or personal improvement.
How does it work?
The Alexander Technique works by bringing one’s whole self back into natural balance, before we adopted the everyday bad habits that over the years take their inevitable toll.
I’ve tried almost everything. Why should The Alexander Technique work where other treatments have failed?
Unlike specific treatments that isolate a specific symptom and attempt to deal with the effects, The Alexander Technique deals with the whole person. This means that you’ll see an overallimprovement in your well-being.
What happens during an Alexander Technique lesson?
During an Alexander Technique lesson your Teacher will make careful observations, and will guide you through everyday actions like sitting, standing, and laying down. In this way, you will have a practical demonstration of your true potential – which will only grow the more you practice The Technique.
How much does it cost?
Lessons are one-to-one, cost CHF 90.- and last 45 minutes. The majority of the complementary insurances in Switzerland reimburse the Alexander Technique. Please contact your insurance to find out more about it.
How many lessons will I need before I see an improvement?
As you might expect, this varies from person to person.
Why do I need a teacher? Why can’t I learn it myself?
The Alexander Technique undoes all the harmful habits we have acquired over the years. Because these habits are so ingrained, they feel natural. This means that doing the right thing would feel wrong.
Notre formation 2018 / 2019 inclut maintenant aussi le Tronc Commun TC et le Stage professionnel TC.
In the last few days I had the pleasure to present the Alexander Technique to the teachers at the the Musikschule Konservatorium in Zürich. Working with talented and creative individuals, helping them to discover, to access and to express their potentials through our work is always a very rewarding experience. Becoming conscious of our unconscious Self is the first step towards growth and development at all levels.
I hope you will enjoy this simple way of presenting and structuring the Technique.
On the 19th of November I had the privilege to present the SBAT/APSTA CH-Forum 2016 in Neuchâtel. Helped by my co-director Nathalie Sandoz and colleagues Kate Kelly, Marta Baron, Paolo Frigoli and Colin Beattie, I was able to share my experience and understanding of the Technique with a group of over 50 attendees, mainly teachers and a few trainees. A big thank you to Council for this opportunity and to Karin for being so helpful with organizing this event.
Nous sommes très heureux de mettre en ligne notre clip publicitaire de Technique Alexander APSTA/SBAT, disponible en trois langues.
First of all, I’d like to thank Council for allowing us some time to present our schools on
today’s busy schedule. I would also like to thank you in advance for your attention; I know
that paying attention, being present, is one of the most valuable gifts we can offer one
